Row trolling is similar to regular trolling,
with lures trailing behind the boat or off to the side
off a planer board, except that the boat is powered by
a rower with a pair of oars instead of an outboard motor.
With row trolling, a fisherman can have up to three lines
and lures in the water at the same time. This is in contrast
to casting lures from shore or a boat, where the fisherman
normally only uses one line. As every fisherman knows,
the longer you have your lure in the water, the better
your chances to catch a musky. With roll trolling, the
lure is always in the water, therefore, greatly increasing
the chances of catching a monster musky.
Another benefit of roll trolling vs. casting... When a
lure is cast and then retrieved, it angles down to its
maximum depth and then angles back up toward the boat.
With row trolling, once the boat is under way the lure
stays down at its maximum depth consistently.
